{"id":176,"date":"2021-02-15T17:00:54","date_gmt":"2021-02-15T22:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/facultyhub\/?p=176"},"modified":"2021-02-24T15:55:40","modified_gmt":"2021-02-24T20:55:40","slug":"radical-empathy-and-a-14-day-writing-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/facultyhub\/2021\/02\/15\/radical-empathy-and-a-14-day-writing-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Radical Empathy and a 14-Day Writing Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Faculty Hub invites all faculty to participate with us in two faculty development opportunities in March.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Book Talk with Dr. Terri Givens on Radical Empathy<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We\u00a0invite you to join us for an important faculty development opportunity with Dr. Terri Givens, founder\/CEO of Brighter Higher Ed, political scientist, consultant, and a former vice provost and provost.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Givens\u2019 forthcoming book\u00a0<em>Radical Empathy: Finding a Path to Bridging Racial Divides<\/em>\u00a0addresses issues of structural racism and the persistence of inequality and offers practical steps for calling out racism and affecting radical social change. If you would like to join us,\u00a0please\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urfacultyhub.corsizio.com\/c\/6022c1fcc80ba253a8b6554f\">register for the follow-up conversation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>14-Day Writing Challenge<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It can be very hard to find 30 minutes a day for focused writing time, especially under current conditions.\u00a0 However, if you would like to give it a try, here is a program that uses some motivational approaches to help you engage or re-engage in your writing.<\/p>\n<p>Consider participating with us in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facultydiversity.org\/14-day-challenge\">14-day writing challenge<\/a>\u00a0sponsored by the National Center for Faculty Development &amp; Diversity (NCFDD). This will occur from\u00a0<strong>March 22-April 4\u00a0<\/strong>and you must <strong>register by March 17<\/strong> (see below).\u00a0\u00a0During the week of April 5, the Faculty Hub will offer a follow-up conversation for UR participants so that we can reflect on our experiences, celebrate our successes, and share tips on how to\u00a0continue our writing momentum into the coming months.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New to NCFDD?\u00a0<\/strong>No problem! UR has an institutional membership.
