As the University transitions from Blackboard to Canvas, the Faculty Hub is offering a series of two-day, in-person Blackboard to Canvas Bootcamps designed to help faculty make real progress in their course sites before the fall.
These bootcamps are not just feature tours or passive demos. Instead, they are built around hands-on course development, practical workflow translation, and pedagogical continuity. Participants will spend time actively working in their own Canvas course shells while receiving guidance from Faculty Hub staff, campus partners, and colleagues who are already exploring the new system.
The bootcamp will help faculty develop a clear mental model of Canvas: how it is organized, how it differs from Blackboard, and how it can support teaching goals. Sessions will focus on course setup, content import, assignments and grading, communication tools, third-party integrations, accessibility, and student support features. Faculty will also complete a short pre-bootcamp worksheet to reflect on how they currently use Blackboard and which workflows matter most for their teaching.
By the end of the bootcamp, participants will have greater confidence navigating Canvas, clearer mappings between Blackboard and Canvas workflows, and concrete progress already made in one of their own courses.
