Contesta las preguntas marcadas con asterisco * &#8211; ver m\u00e1s abajo. En clase explicar\u00e1s tus planes (en 1-3 minutos).<\/p>\n<p>Que no se te olvide hacer clic en la categor\u00eda &#8220;metodolog\u00eda (plan de an\u00e1lisis&#8221; para que tu publicaci\u00f3n aparezca en la p\u00e1gina correcta.<\/p>\n<p>La metodolog\u00eda se define como los mecanismos o procedimientos empleados para lograr un objetivo. Tu objetivo es contestar una pregunta de investigaci\u00f3n. Por ende, la metodolog\u00eda que desarrollas debe ser adecuada para contestar tu pregunta de investigaci\u00f3n, adem\u00e1s de ser factible y \u00e9tica. La ling\u00fc\u00edstica es un campo multidisciplinario y los ling\u00fcistas emplean metodolog\u00edas muy diversas en sus estudios. Tienes la libertad de elegir la metodolog\u00eda que te parezca mejor para tu proyecto. Tienes que aportar alg\u00fan an\u00e1lisis original (y no simplemente resumir estudios publicados anteriormente), pero NO tienes que empezar de cero. No se espera que todes les alumnes hagan estudio emp\u00edricos ni que echen muchas horas haciendo investigaci\u00f3n de campo (<em>field work<\/em>). El Cap\u00edtulo 6 (an\u00e1lisis e interpretaci\u00f3n de datos) ser\u00e1 \u00fatil para todos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Si piensas recoger datos de <strong>participantes humanos<\/strong>, tendr\u00e1s que completar un m\u00f3dulo en l\u00ednea de entrenamiento\u00a0y pedir permiso del <strong>Institutional Review Board (IRB). <\/strong>Explicaci\u00f3n:<\/p>\n<p><strong>IRB approval \u00a0<\/strong>Course-based projects, such as interviews, marketing surveys, or oral history projects, are generally excluded from regulatory oversight <u>if the results remain in the classroom<\/u> (and so cannot contribute to generalizable knowledge and are therefore not considered \u201cresearch&#8221;). However, one must still provide the IRB with a brief email describing who will be studied, the type of measures, location, and dissemination intentions (e.g. the findings will not be made public in any way).<\/p>\n<p>Thus, if you only plan to submit this project for the class, and not present it elsewhere, ever, under any circumstances, then a paragraph description sent to the IRB should suffice. This is called \u201climited review\u201d. \u00a0In effect, you are telling the IRB that you are not doing \u201cresearch\u201d, since your project does not contribute to generalizable knowledge. Still, please send me that paragraph before you submit it to the IRBso that I can help you avoid common mistakes that will delay your project. Once I tell you it is ready, send it to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:irb@richmond.edu\">irb@richmond.edu<\/a>. The IRB will review the project and provide you with written notification of its determination.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>However, IF YOU PLAN TO PRESENT YOUR RESEARCH AT THE LALIS SYMPOSIUM, A&amp;S RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM OR ANY OTHER VENUE OUTSIDE OUR CLASS, THEN YOUR RESULTS DO NOT &#8216;REMAIN IN THE CLASSROOM&#8217; AND THUS YOU MUST SUMIT AN IRB APPLICATION. You should develop an IRB EXPEDITED REVIEW PROPOSAL. Please send me your application materials before you submit them to the IRB so that I can help you avoid common mistakes that will delay your project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Training\u00a0<\/strong>URIRB has determined that all individuals who conduct research with human participants, and those who supervise such projects, complete training in the ethics of human research. Part of the application requirements for an Expedited Review Proposal is this training.
