Discussion:

Organized in 1894 in Trenton, New Jersey, the Mellor and Company mark features the British

lion and unicorn, royal crown, and shield bearing the monogram of the Cook Pottery Co. with

the name Mellor & Co. below. At the time the company was established, English pottery was

highly sought after in the United States, thus, in order to compete, many American companies

made their marks resemble British ones.
