Catching Up: Borderlands, Bastion, and Tomb Raider

18 Nov

I guess I’ve gotten a little behind on this blog… and on pretty much everything else this semester.

A couple of TLF posts have gone up since my last post here: an As-I-Play on Bastion and another on Borderlands 2.

In other news, I’ve started playing Rise of the Tomb Raider, I’ve only gotten to the first campfire, but I’m already in love with this game. I know it’s an Xbox exclusive, and someone seriously dropped the ball by having it share a release date with the multiplatform Fallout 4, but RotTR is actually really amazing. It’s also summoning fond memories of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and most of my undergraduate career being obsessed with the holy grail (no, I’m not looking for the holy grail… at least not yet). It’s also really poignantly relevant to modern politics in a way that had me just standing flabbergasted (as Lara) at one point overlooking a city in northern Syria.

All I can really say at this point is that if you own an appropriate platform, go buy and play this game. I already think it’s worth it, and, as I said, I’m only at the first fire.
