Have you received a Office document you can’t open? The new document formats for Office 2007 (PC) and Office 2008 (Mac) all have an ‘x’ at the end of the file extension. So .doc has become .docx, .and xls has become .xlsx.

As with any file conversion to an older format, the conversion will strip out anything that was added to the document using a feature not found in Office 2004. But for the most part, you’ll be able to work with the file without any problems.
