Who are AC/DC and Guns N’ Roses

AC/DC:

AC/DC is a rock band that originated in Australia in 1973. They specialized in heavy metal rock music and were known to at times express lyrics that were vulgar and inappropriate through loud, shrieking vocals. Formed by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young, who both played the guitar in the band. The two were later joined by Mark Evans on the bass, Phil Rudd on the drums and Bon Scott leading the band with his vocals. With Bon Scott’s passing, he was replaced by Brian Johnson and later Mark Evans was replaced by Cliff Williams. Not soon after being formed, AC/DC was the leading rock band in Australia. They soon moved to London and later to America. Their use of two different types of guitars and chordal use gave them a unique and rhythmic sound.

Guns N’ Roses-

Guns N’ Roses was formed in LA by Axl Rose who lead the vocals, Izzy Stradlin and Tracii Guns on the guitar, Ole Beich on the bass and Rob Gardner on the drums. The lineup changed a couple time from when the band was originally formed in 1985, first when Ole Beich and Tracii Guns left and were replaced by Slash and Michael Andrew “Duff” McKagan. Later drummer Rob Gardner was replaced by Steven Adler. The band had one of the most famous albums in rock history. “With the lineup finally having some stability they set about recording a debut album, one that would make rock and roll history. Released in the summer of 1987, Appetite for Destruction became the biggest selling debut album of all-time with almost 30 million sales worldwide” (Garrett, 2013). The most popular singles of this album were “Welcome to the Jungle”, “Sweet Child O’Mine” and “Paradise City”. These three singles helped the commerce of Appetite for Destruction. The twin-guitar attack of Stradlin and Slash helped produce a powerful set of songs, and drew comparisons to the Rolling Stone” (Garrett, 2013). This album and set of techniques helped led Guns N’ Roses to its immense success which continued to grow throughout the next decade. Much like AC/DC, the band was found to be “ rowdy and dangerous” a common theme for hard rock bands during this time. As members continued to leave and be replaced within the band, it didn’t set the band back and they continued into the next couple of years with 2 albums topping billboard charts.
