Biography

Ennio Morricone is a highly successful composer known around the world as an innovator, especially for his film compositions. Born in Rome in 1928, Morricone first began composing for films in 1961. Before this, he attended the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia where he studied composition and also worked as an arranger. Throughout his career Morricone has written 400 motion picture scores, over 50 classical compositions, and received four Academy Award nominations for Best Original Score. (Burlingame & Crowdus, 1995, 76).
