Adam Foldenauer has previously written on this blog about the importance of networking. I thought of him when I read William Byham’s (January 2009) Harvard Business Review article a few weeks ago. Byham talks about the necessity of networking, even among those who dread it. There are many very helpful hints for MBA students. I strongly recommend the article.
I should also mention that I found this issue of HBR to be especially interesting. There are several pieces related to leadership that I’ve stashed away.
Related to the topic of networking, students and alumni of The Richmond MBA are cordially invited to an upcoming session on career management. Debbie Fisher, Assistant Director of our MBA program, has collaborated with professionals at Lee Hecht Harrison to create a fantastic half-day event that concludes with a “mocktail” in which job-seekers will have a chance to interact with human resource professionals from area firms looking for talent.
The afternoon will include modules on positioning, interviewing and crafting a resume. We hope to see our students and alumni on Friday, February 27, 2009 from 2p-6p in The Robins School. If you have questions, feel free to contact me (rcoughla@richmond.edu) or Debbie Fisher (dfisher2@richmond.edu).
