Almost the end of June, which means it’s almost July, which means it’s ALMOST time for school to start! Well, kind of.
I always feel that once August hits me, school’s back in session. I start scheduling things for the year, picking out new school clothes for fall, and getting excited about buying fresh new school supplies (yeah, I know I’m a dork).
So since in my eyes we’re almost half way through with our summer, you might be thinking about more and more questions every day regarding the upcoming year…don’t hesitate to ask me any of them!
I know when I was anticipating my first semester at Richmond, I was anxious about meeting new people, making new friends that already had their cliques, and how I would handle the work load. Trust me, as much as you might worry now, it WILL work out and be an awesome experience…don’t be anything but excited about your new adventure! Many of you have had great questions that seem to be stemming from the same topics.
Here are some things that might help so far:
1. You’ll get your official academic advisor in August and you’ll meet with them face-to-face during your orientation. As of now, there are summer advisors to help you (and me!) This website is good for more advising info: http://newspiders.richmond.edu/summeradvising/advisors.html
2. If you want to know about which classes to choose from and you’re a tranfer student, you can go on Bannerweb to check it out. The rest of you will have to wait until July 17th to pick out what classes you might want to take.
3. To log onto Bannerweb:
Go to Bannerweb: https://bannerweb.richmond.edu/
Regular login, Use University ID (not netID)
First-time password= your birth date: MMDDYY (six numbers)
It will say “re-enter your old PIN”- so again enter your birth date
Then you will be prompted to create your new PIN, (six characters, numbers or letters) You will also have to create a recovery question. Be sure it’s something you’ll remember. Any issues, contact the HelpDesk at helpdesk@richmond.edu or (804) 287-6400.
Sound good? Anything else, feel free to e-mail me. Oh, and if you’re all set up on e-mail at Richmond, start using it. Check it often because the Registrar’s Office and other UR programs should be contacting you through UR e-mail.
Hope you’re enjoying your summer!
