Available now: Constructing the Adolescent Reader in Contemporary Young Adult Fiction, a new book from Palgrave Macmillan. In this book I argue that contemporary young adult novels depict readers as doers, and that the ability to read deeply, critically, and communally is crucial to the development of adolescent agency.

Although my training is strictly academic, I often write for a broader audience as well. I publish academic articles–mostly on children’s, YA, and Victorian literature–and journalism and creative nonfiction, much of it related to motherhood and/or children’s literature.
