Eco-Spider Challenge Essay

“He was a good spider until he drank the polluted water”…. Thus begins the mournful eulogy of the Marsh Hall eco spider. This spider used to be vibrant and full of life, but his own environment killed him. Unaware of the lurking danger, the Marsh spider went about his daily business and was useful to his society. Surely, he did not expect to die in a place where he was supposed to be safe. Rather, he deserved to be informed that his environment was toxic to his health. The Marsh spider deserved to live.

Unfortunately, there are human beings who meet the same fate as the Marsh eco spider. They are people who are full of life and contributors to their societies. Yet, they are unaware that their own environment is killing them. These people are dying in a place that is supposed to be a safe haven: their homes. Like the spider, they deserve to be informed about pollution in their area. But perhaps even more importantly, people must be encouraged to inform themselves about pollution. Therefore Marsh hall created this spider as a stark exhortation to the importance of being aware about our environment. Because sometimes, home is not as safe as it should be.
