Eco-Spider Challenge Essay

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated would like to demonstrate the beauty that surrounds us. The inspiration for creating Ethel, our eco-spider, was to find recyclables and turn them into beautiful art. Ethel’s arms and legs, were taken from an old metal chair. A metal chair is something one might not think to recycle; however, it can be melted down and the bi-products used to create other things. Ethel’s head is a trash bag filled with recycled paper and her body is a piece of recycled plastic. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated would like to assist the University of Richmond in its efforts to encourage students to recycle. The members of the Rho Mu chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated are proud to be UR spiders helping to promote environmental awareness.
