DRIVING DIRECTIONS

If you are coming down I-95, the campus directions take you to the “Boatright entrance” via Cary Street and River Road.   From the Boatright entrance continue to the right and follow the signs to Thomas Hall (two buildings beyond Admissions on the right).  There are more detailed directions down below and the school’s route is kind of convoluted, so…

We suggest an alternative route:

From I-95 (Do not take I-295 as you come into the City—it will take you way too far to the West)Stay on I-95 until you get to exit #79 and take Exit 79 off I-95 to I-64 West and continue west on I-64 (stay in right lane).

Take Exit 183-A/Glenside Drive south off of I-64. Continue south on Glenside Drive (it will curve to the left) to the fourth or fifth traffic light (Three Chopt Road).  Turn left on Three Chopt. Continue straight for 8/10 mile. Turn right onto Boatwright Drive (approximately .5 mile after the traffic signal).  There is no light at Boatright so keep your eyes peeled.  Take Boatright about .5 of a mile and at the bottom of the hill make a left onto Campus Drive.  Make the first right onto Gateway Road and then take another quick right about 15 yards later (you’ll see another sign) on Richmond Way. 

Follow Richmond Way past the Law School and Admissions and the road will veer to your left.  Follow Richmond Way past Jepson on the left until you see Thomas Hall on the right.  You can park across the street from Thomas Hall if there is an open space or in the Weinstein Hall parking lot on your left.  Registration will be in Whitehurst Hall (#51 on the campus map called Housing) right next to Thomas (#7 on the campus map).

To return to I-95, turn around on Richmond Way, take it to Gateway Road and take a left and then an immediate left on Campus Drive.  Follow Campus Drive less than a mile to Boatright and take a right on Boatright to get back to Three Chopt.  Take a left on Three Chopt and take it through Patterson to the light at Horsepen/Glenside.  Take a right at Horsepen—it turns into Glenside—and follow Glenside until you see the signs for I-64 East which will be an on-ramp on your right.  Follow I-64 East back to I-95.

Want to do a few things in Richmond?  Stay on Glenside (drive over I-64) until you get to Broad Street which is just the next traffic light.  From Broad Street, you can hit just about everything—there is a K-Mart across the street at that intersection and if you turn right on Broad Street you will soon run into an Office Max, Home Depot, Burlington on the right, a number of restaurants in either direction, a Target a little further down on Broad, etc. Questions?  Just ask. From I-64Take Exit 183/Glenside Drive south on the west side of the City of Richmond and follow the directions above.

Note:  Google maps will take you to 28 Westhampton Way—that’s pretty close (about 2 minutes)—just follow the lake around until you see Thomas Hall on the left.
