MMS: Foundations in Business–Duke University

Duke has a new Master of Managment Studies in Business program.  This is a 9 month program for individuals without previous business training and experience who may have recently earned an undergraduate or graduate degree in areas including liberal arts, science or engineering.  It is a great way to develop additional skill sets and expand career options.  Learn more at www.fuqua.duke.edu/MMS.

Science Graduate Fellowships- Dept. of Energy

Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced that $12.5 million in ARRA funding has been allocated to create at least 80 new graduate fellowships in science, mathematics and engineering.

Secretary Chu noted that training the next generation of U.S. scientists and engineers is critical to our future energy security and economic competitiveness.²

The fellowships are open to U.S. citizens beginning their graduate study in fall 2010 or currently in their first or second year of study; eligible fields include the physical, biological, engineering, and computational sciences. Awards of $50,500 per year for three years will cover tuition, living, and other expenses.  Applications are due November 30.

Join trip to VCU grad school fair

The Career Development Center will coordinate transportation to the Virginia Commonwealth University graduate school fair Thursday, Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Graduate Degrees for the Public Good

The Career Development Center will coordinate a bus trip for students interested in attending Idealist.org’s Graduate Degrees for the Public Good fair Monday Sept. 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. At the fair, students will have an opportunity to meet graduate admissions representatives from various programs to discuss professional development through graduate education. Students can also  attend a free information session offering advice on graduate degree options, the application process, financial aid, and deciding when to attend graduate school after spending time in the working world.

Students wishing to reserve a spot on the CDC’s bus, must register via SpiderConnect by logging in and clicking “Events” and then “Programs & Workshops.” In addition, students must bring in the $10 fee (cash or check only) to the CDC on the third floor of THC by Sept. 11.
