Joe’s Internship: Johnson Lambert & Co.

joecutrona.jpg

My summer experience at Johnson Lambert was likely the most well-rounded audit experience possible. Johnson Lambert & Co., LLP is a mid-sized firm that specializes exclusively in insurance companies, not-for-profits and employee benefit programs. They are a smaller firm, but nationally renowned in their specific industry niches.

At Johnson and Lambert, interns were taken to the client sites where we did control and substantive testing. Senior associates delegate responsibilities to interns; the assignments given to the interns were directly akin to the first-year staff. Our work included completing audit programs, tic and tying financial documents and utilizing risk analysis spreadsheets. In addition to my audit work, I helped with marketing projects, and I conducted research to help practitioners implement new standards.

Johnson Lambert & Co. stands out because of their unique employee culture. I was impressed how there are seemingly no glass barriers between associate and partner, as I worked with individuals on all levels of the organization. The firm sponsored several social activities for the interns such as golf lessons, segway tours in Washington, D.C.,  and a trip to the Spy Museum.

Joe is senior majoring in accounting.
