Undergraduate students are encouraged to apply to be employed from May to August at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center, just outside of Lynchburgin Appomattox, Virginia. The camp staff will teach Outdoor Living Skills, Canoeing, wimming, Shooting Education, or High/Low Ropes Course classes as well as assist n developing afternoon and evening programming. Junior 4-H Camp is a residential 2 week summer camping program for youth ages 9-13. Training is provided, in addition to a competitive salary and employee benefits. It’s a reat way to have a fun summer job with weekends free!
These positions are an excellent opportunity to develop new personal and
professional skills, have fun, and to use your knowledge to help Virginia’s youth. Anyone interested in youth education, teaching, Extension, or spending time with kids in the outdoors is encouraged to apply.

During the spring semester, the Career Development Center will host representatives from a variety of organizations to interview students on campus for internships and jobs. More than 40 organizations participate each semester, and previous participants have included the Dept. of Homeland Security; Ernst & Young; CarMax; Philip Morris USA; Cowen & Company; and the U.S. General Services Administration. Students in all majors can review the schedule and sign-up for interviews through SpiderConnect.
Employers will also host information sessions to inform students about internships and jobs with their organizations. More than 20 information sessions are held each semester, and previous participants have included the CIA; Summer Bridge New Orleans; Keiter, Stephens, Hurst, Gary & Shreaves; Genworth Financial; and Goldman Sachs & Co. Summer research fellowships through the School of Arts & Sciences provide a stipend for living expenses so that students can work full time on a single research project during the summer months. Stipends are $400 per week, with an additional $50 per week if the student lives on campus.
