The Fund for Theological Education is a leading ecumenical advocate for excellence and diversity in Christian ministry and theological scholarship. The organization provides fellowships and a network of support to gifted young people from all denominations and racial/ethnic backgrounds.

President Clinton will host the second annual meeting of CGI U at the University of Texas at Austin, February 13-15, 2009. Building on the success of CGI U 2008 in New Orleans, the meeting will bring together young leaders, university presidents, and activists to address pressing global challenges in the areas of education, energy and climate change, global health, human rights and peace, and poverty alleviation.
The deadline for early decision applications is November 7, 2008. The final deadline for applications is December 12, 2008. Attending CGI U is free, and travel assistance is available for those who qualify. CGI U actively seeks a range of students who have a variety of experiences, interests, talents, and goals.

Winning proposals will be funded at $10,000 each and implemented in summer 2009. The competition is open to all UR students including seniors and the proposed project can be undertaken as an individual or a group. The project can be done anywhere in the world including the U.S. and should have a long-term impact. The campus submission deadline is January 26, 2009 to Krittika Onsanit in the Office of International Education, Puryear Hall. In the last 2 years of the competition, three UR students received $10,000 each to implement peace projects in their home countries. Projects for Peace Information Session on Tuesday, November 11 from 5:15-6:15 pm in the Jepson Faculty Lounge: hear from the students directly about their experiences and to answer questions from students who are interested in the competition.
