Most current college students misperceive its importance and just how easy it is to get started. However, I must say I’m disappointed with Jessie’s podcast. Part of the challenge of a podcast is communicating effectively solely through one’s voice. All the pieces were there: music, pictures, and material. All except a real voice. She just fails to communicate enthusiasm and passion for her presentation. This made it difficult to hold any sort of prolonged interest or attention. Couple that with a slow pacing of the script, by the time I was halfway through I just wanted stop watching because I was so bored and convinced that I had gotten the gist of the podcast already. This is a shame because some of her best and most relevant material is at the end. Here she covers tips as to how to use popular student assets, specifically social networking websites, such as Facebook, for networking and creating a more informal relationship with contacts. Overall, I must rate this podcast 2 stars for it’s solid material but flawed delivery.

This podcast does a good job of giving an introduction into an interesting and important topic such as networking. The narration seemed clear, with smooth transitions and the photos were organized and presented in a very sensible manner. The music at the beginning and end were played for a little too long and some of the information presented was more common sense then informative. But in general the podcast was well presented and thoroughly covered the chosen topic.
